my grand daughters graduation
Last night was my grand daughter,s high school graduation. I had a wonderful time and it took my mind off my homeless situation for a min. Education is important, but whats more important is connections, who you know and them getting your foot in the door. I wish my grand daughter much success (including her fellow classmates). Welcome to the real world kiddies!

Prepare for War in the Time of Peace
A fellow resident where I stay was informed that this Wed is his last day. If he had not inquired, it would surprised him like hunter surprising prey. My heart goes out to him because here we're all in the same boat......that exit date!. The future is for those who are prepared.....that is why I prepare for the future before that time comes. Many here are relaxed and comfortable; treating this facility like a sorority house, a weekend getaway. They are shocked when the day comes. I'm always alert and plan ahead because nothing last forever. I hope he lands on his feet where ever that may be. What I have learned (and quickly) is that when you are unemployed, homeless with no connections to put you back on your feet, you're invisible to society, you don't exist. In the movie "Trading Places" the successful man had everything including respect and accolades from his peers while the homeless man had nothing was looked down upon by society as a loser and scum? Welcome to the real world because that movie is a reflection of what society feels to day about homelessness. Prepare!!!!!
It is what it is......................
I woke up this morning being thankful that I have a roof over my head. It may not be the best situation in the world, but it beats being on street! That is my worst fear! Being on the street with no where to go. A former homeless guy once said: "You're homeless when you don't have a home, but you're homeless really when you don't have a place to go. Nobody deserves that". Those words ring so true for many homeless people around this country. That is why I work extra hard to make things happen so that will not happen. If you would have told me several years ago that I would be living at the YMCA on the Gold Coast of Chicago, I would have laughed in your face! I would pass this place every day on the bus and never in my wildest dreams I would end up here. This not saying that I,m better that the next person, but life has a way of fucking your plans up. Thank George Bush for screwing this country up while you and your cronies feed from the through of prosperity and plenty! What a bastard!

Introducing...My World....My Journey
Currently I"m homeless (and living in a shelter), unemployed and have medical issues that have prevented me from working full-time. I thought like others, that I would never get to this point. As a matter of fact, Ive discussed this with my close friend, James and never in my dreams I would end up like this. I'm no better than the next person, so please don't take the statement in a negative light. I've passed by the Lawson YMCA (where I currently live under a nonprofit organization) and never thought I would end up here.
Life takes you in a different direction! I would like for you to come along and share in my journey as I embark on this road to get my life back. And I will! I must be diligent, patient, aggressive and makes things happen to make that come to reality....Let the journey begin!!!!
